What to wear to a job fair? Dos & Don't when finding a job

Wondering what to wear to a job fair?

Take a look at the fall outfits we picked for you!

Summer’s coming to an end and for most people in their early twenty something’s they’re embarking on the excitement and exhaustion of the infamous job search. This time is filled with much anxiety, anticipation and unfortunately for others depression due to the uncertainty of the process, yet fortunately we’ve created a list for you future employees with our own guide of what to wear to a job fair
For those of you who aren’t necessarily informed on what exactly a job fair is, a job fair or otherwise known as a “career expo” is essentially a gathering of job seekers, recruitment and/or various school organizations coming together to effectively train and recruit talent. As the season is dwindling to Fall, we’ll include Fall outfits 2018 as a means for gathering information. Furthermore, if you’d like to gain inspiration, read on.

For The Not So Basic Fashionista

We’re going to go ahead and admit that we’re absolutely in love with this ensemble! This is for all of our fashionistas that dress to kill and always under all circumstances fall victim to overdressing. Because we’re on the cusp of fall this black cardigan and skirt set looks more feasible for that type of weather. This look doesn’t necessarily follow the less is more myth but is a great addition for women who want to look both professional while expressing themselves.
To play it a little safer when it comes to these types of fall outfits 2018 go ahead and swap out the flowy dress for a pleated skirt and penny loafers. This look is also a hot contender for what to wear to a college interview as well. When it comes to wholesale clothing, it’s best to ensure that recommendations for a fashion look always align with the times, whether it be the season (weather) or the season (Fashion). This look is definitely for the culture.

Black Trench Coat

Long gone are the days where trench coats were just for Sherlock Holmes and wanksters. Earlier this year, British Vogue, the most important vogue issue out published an article entitled, Shop The Street Style: Trench Coats which listed various sorts of trench coats from rain trench coats to plastic trench coats and one of our favorites and most important for this particular topic, the double-breasted trench, the classical sequence. You’ve seen this look on literally everyone from Oscar award-winning Lupita Nyong’o to lifestyle trendsetter Alexa Chung. Now that the fall is upon us, you’ll finally have an excuse to wear this emergency coat, because let’s face it. Does anyone actually care about what’s underneath our stunning outerwear in cold months? But actually, please do wear a blouse and well-tailored pants. For shoes try opting for loafers or high-quality ballet flats.

The Basic White Button Down

Just recently,  we read an article published by the modern woman’s fashion bible, “ Who What Wear” and the article was entitled, “The Best White Button Down Is Hiding At The Mall”  While the name seems long and exhausting there were actually pretty good pointers that both the writers and editors of the piece constructed. One of the most important tips for every person looking to build an excellent wardrobe is to have a white button down shirt. The white button-down is and should be a basic essential included in every woman’s closet.
We’ve seen this sort of style on everyone both It girls and everyday women, with Tv superstar Issa Rae and Duchess of Sussex leading the pack. What makes this particular garment most essential is that it can be worn to brunch, to work and in your case to a job fair.
By wearing a simple white button-down shirt, and pairing them with cigarette pants and/or a black pencil skirt, you’ll be totally prepared to rock at the job fair, where first impressions go a long way. With this particular fashion essential in your closet, deciding what to wear to a job fair won’t be too hard, to say the least.

The Pencil Skirt

After the midi pencil skirt has made an appearance on the spring-summer 2018 runways of Prada, Max Mara and Fendi, one of our favorite women’s magazines, InStyle, wrote up an article on the how-tos of wearing a midi skirt in the era that it’s trending. The article is full of recommendations such as finding a skirt that has more of a menswear pattern for work, which is especially on topic for us as we’re currently uncovering the how-tos of what to wear to a job fair. Trust, shopper’s guide Racked recently published an article discussing how the pencil skirt has become America’s sexiest staple and we’ve seen this evidenced by fashion icons in society today like the likes of a lawyer/international philanthropist Amal Clooney and musical genius/ triple threat Janelle Monae rocking pencil skirts as well. Wearing a fashionable pencil skirt to the job fair will not only be sure to score you brownie points from the gods of the fashion world themselves but hopefully from potential employers.

Misc.

When it comes to accessories notes that for these sorts of fashion affairs, try wearing a cute rose gold watch and studs for your earrings as statement pieces are going to be most likely on what attendees will be wearing in their workspace. For those wondering about how their outfit fits into the dress codes of the companies and organizations in attendance—- always, always, always, read up on each company’s dress code and find your common ground. If the occasion is supposedly business casual than attempt to check out our past articles on dressing for business casual interviews as you can oftentimes be interviewed at the job fair.
