New York Fashion Week Reveals New Fashion Trends

The best weeks in the fashion industry are always the fashion weeks. New York, Milan, Paris, or London, they’re all able to highlight the gorgeous fashion trends of the season or the coming seasons. Due to the popularity of the fashion weeks, designers have started to always reveal their designs a season or two early.

New York fashion week has just passed and designers like Victoria Beckham displayed their upcoming spring and summer collections which has really set the bar high for all the other brands and designers who will be putting out designs in the coming months. Having your fashion displayed at any fashion week is amazing and these designers always work extremely hard to set the fashion trends for everyone.

New York Fashion Week is probably the biggest week out of all the popular ones (and there is 2 every year it’s so big!) and therefore if brands or designer get the chance to displayed their work during this time at such a big event they will take their chance. This winter season is all about frills, red things and everything oversized and last summer was all about dressing to impress. By the looks of how things went at fashion week, we’ve compiled a list of all the fashion trends that are going to popular the spring and summer of 2018. From old, 1980’s style trends to our very own, 2018 is going to be a fashion industry year to remember!

Fashion apparel changes every year, some years it’s a lot more extreme and then others it’s not. Over the past few years it’s been about standing out from the crowd and being able to show your individuality through the clothes you wear. So many brands and designers have designed clothes too out there but over the last year or two people have become daring enough to actually wear them. Spring and summer of 2018 will be no different to this year either, except the fashion trends of course.

All About the Yellow Life

Forget about red that’s in this season, next year it’s going to be all about yellow. That’s not just tops or pants, I’m talking about shoes, bags and accessories. The models at NYW were kitted out in everything yellow. Victoria Beckham was a notable lover of yellow for her collection as she displayed over 3 models wearing yellow, one even was dressed purely in yellow from head to toe. Yellow has never been my colour, I own virtually no clothes that are any shade of yellow but I’m definitely going to have to invest next season or I’ll be leaving y fashionista at the door. Celebrities like J-Lo and Kim K regularly rock yellow wear but it’s very in with the general fashion industry, except now.

Get the yellow look by pairing some white jeans with some flats and a bright yellow blouse. You can also rock the 2018 summer look by wearing a bright, yellow skater dress and pairing it with some gorgeous brown sandals or even some lovely heels for a night look. Everyone’s head will be turning at that beach or party next summer when you turn up in a statement yellow outfit.

Short Midi Summer Fashion Trend

Everyone loves a good midi skirt and every summer this trend comes and goes during the summer season. Summer 2018 is no exception to this, whether you love to wear it with a shirt or crop top, you can never go wrong! Designers like Jeremy Scott and Alexander Wang highlighted their midi skirts with everything possible. There designs included floral and floaty skirts that really give a summer vibe. Midi skirts originated in the 1960’s when dresses began to shorten but they didn’t want to make it obvious. They were essentially a reaction to the very short skirts that had been introduced as a way to deter people from buying the skirts that were extremely short.

Beyoncé, Taylor Swift and Katy Perry are just a few celebrities who are always rocking the midi skirt when they’re out and about. I feel like it’s the type of fashion statement you can make when you want to feel classy and elegant in your outfit. Midi skirts are amazing for any party or summer event so make sure you get your wardrobe stocked up as midi skirts hit the stores!

Suiting it Up

The fashion industry would never shy away from a traditional suit and NYW didn’t either. There were so many designers that incorporated classy and smart this year with suits, from shirts with ties to pencil skirts. The designs were endless and they looked stunning. Dresses aren’t for everyone and depending on the situation, sometimes wearing a traditional suit is what you need. Whatever the style and colour, it looks like this spring and summer you’re going to be seeing a lot more of the women in the streets and on the catwalk rocking these beauties. Suiting it up is always a good idea, so make sure you’ve got some shopping days free this winter so you can get your wardrobe suit ready.

Flare It Out

Fringes have been all the rage this summer but next summer designers have decided to go more for flares. No, we aren’t back in the 70’s, you’re still here and sane in 2017. There has become a big trend in the last few years for old trends to come back around though with other fashion trends finally making their way out. Flares are essentially pants that are skin tight till the knee where they flare out until they reach the floor. From jeans to pant suits, there are so many different styles of flares that are available to everyone but this coming spring and summer they are going to be flying from the store rails. If you chose to pair your flares with some boots then you’ll definitely be taking it back to the 70’s or you can flare out your outfit with some sandals. Another idea is to wear your flares with crop tops or even a denim jacket to modernise your flares a little. Coach 1941 were just one of the designer brands that showcased some amazing flares available next season in their collection.
