The Best Looks from the Paris Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2018 Shows

Paris Fashion Week (PFW) has just wrapped up and we all know what that means! It's time to round up our favorite best looks from the recently concluded runway shows! From the elegant simplicity of Jacquemus to the avant-garde creations debuted by Comme des Garçons, here are our top picks for the best looks straight off the PFW Spring/Summer 2018 runway catwalks.

JACQUEMUS

Simon Porte Jacquemus kicked off PFW at the esteemed Musée Picasso in the district of Marais. A perfect opener for PFW, highlighted by the sheer fact that this is the first time the museum has hosted a fashion event. Titled La Bomba, the Jacquemus runway show featured elegant cuts in gorgeous earth tones, punctuated by fun, mismatched earrings and quirky heels.

1) Fabulous earth tones perfectly match the classic charm of the Musée Picasso. Jacquemus put together a blend of simple ruching and elegant drapery to create feminine silhouettes that any woman will love. Also, don’t you just love those micro bags?
2) Symmetry is so old-school. Jacquemus celebrates fun individuality with mismatched earrings.
3) At first they seem like classic strappy sandals, but after a closer look you spy quirky heels! This marriage of classic elegance and quirky fun from Jacquemus truly set off Paris Fashion Week in style.

YVES SAINT LAURENT

Saint Laurent’s incredible venue was at the foot of the historic Eiffel Tower, and Anthony Vaccarello delivered an equally awe-inspiring show. Models first stomped down the vast runway in strappy stilettos accented with ostrich feathers, but boots were the more dominant footwear of the night.

1) Puffy sleeves, comfy shorts, and ostrich feathers marked Saint Laurent’s Spring 2018 collection. This silver-dotted sheer blouse was an instant favorite.
2) They have feathers up here and down there, too.
3) Can’t get enough of this boots and deconstructed white gown look.

DRIES VAN NOTEN

The Van Noten Spring/Summer 2018 collection debuted in the magnificent Hôtel de Ville. The collection showcased nude tones and delicate prints with patterned silk scarves and brocade shoes as accessories. Here are three of our top picks:

1) Elegant accents transformed this simple, classic cut into an eye-catching stunner, and we totally love it.
2) This creation gives off such an easy, comfortable vibe. The casually draped but perfectly styled silk scarf throws in a splash of vibrant color and livens up the somber richness of the loose pants and wrap-around dress.
3) These stunning brocade shoes seriously deserve a shout-out. The rich golds and beautiful embroidery are so striking that we thought you really should see them up close!

MAISON MARGIELA

John Galliano’s Paris Fashion Week Spring 2018 collection for Maison Margiela takes deconstruction to new heights—rather literally, it seems—with plane tickets, luggage tags, and travel accessories adorning cut out jackets, ripped coats, and towels worn as clothing. Even the shoes did not escape deconstruction. Despite the artsy deconstructed theme surrounding the collection, many of the pieces were distinctly wearable. We can definitely foresee some fashion forward ladies latching on to these come spring 2018. Towel skirts? Yes, please. Sparkly embellishments on cutouts? Why not? Deconstructed gold shoes and cowboy boots? Must-have!

OFF-WHITE

Virgil Abloh debuted a Princess Diana-inspired collection for Off-White, in a show aptly titled Natural Woman. According to Vogue, Abloh and his team studied images of Princess Di for months to draw inspiration from for his Spring 2018 collection. Avid Diana fans might be able to spot the references to the late princess in certain pieces. We must confess, though, that our favorite moment was Naomi Campbell closing out the show in a flawless white tailored blazer with an asymmetric side flounce over white cycling shorts.

ALEXANDER MCQUEEN

Deconstructed raincoats, vintage quilt patterns, ethereal florals, and chunky shoes filled Sarah Burton’s runway show for Alexander McQueen’s Spring 2018 ready-to-wear collection. The gorgeous handcrafted creations were paraded in a garden setting by models that looked like they just got drenched by a British summer squall.

CHLOÉ

Natacha Ramsay-Levi delivered soft, feminine silhouettes with hints of bohemian and equestrian inspirations for Chloé’s Spring 2018 show. Flowy frocks and breezy pants were supplement by kick-ass boots any girl would love to rock out in. We also spotted some very fun bags in this collection! Watch the full show here.

LOEWE

Jonathan Anderson’s Spring 2018 collection for Loewe featured very wearable high-quality pieces that you can actually see hanging in your closet. Elegant ruching, stylish ruffles, and lovely layers come together to create a beautiful aesthetic that simply reaches out to your sartorial fancies. We bet you’ll find more than one gorgeous design that you can’t wait to get your hands on next year, except maybe those curly-toed genie shoes. But who knows, right? See the full collection here.

CÉLINE

Phoebe Philo’s collection for Céline takes inspiration from the strong, confident women of decades past. Wide-shouldered power suits, classic pleated skirts, bold stripes, and luxurious midis were among the styles that graced the Céline runway.  Watch the full show here.

CHANEL

Chanel’s Spring Summer 2018 collection by Karl Lagerfeld brought together past, present, and future in an inspiring show set against a backdrop of cascading waterfalls. Vintage patterns and cuts were brought to the present through the application of current trends and then styled for the future with space-age plastic designs. The result is a jaw-dropping collection of unique, handcrafted creations enhanced with utilitarian comforts. Because who doesn’t want to fashionably stroll down the street on a rainy day without worrying about your shoes getting ruined? Watch the full Chanel show here.

COMME DES GARÇONS

Rei Kawakubo’s fantasy-laden creations debuted to an awestruck audience at the Comme des Garçons Spring 2018 show. Hints of traditional Japanese garb peeked through an explosion of popular manga, anime, and cartoon art. The fantasy parade was hushed down midway by an angel in white tweed, before picking up again in an artistic frenzy and ending in a blast of scarlet. Watch the full show here.

LOUIS VUITTON

Sublime music filled the lower floor of the Louvre’s recently opened Pavillon de l’Horloge as Nicolas Ghesquière presented his Spring 2018 creations for Louis Vuitton. Ghesquière went back centuries for inspiration, with intricately detailed brocade coats headlining the collection, and jumping suddenly to the present as he pairs these with gym shorts and athletic shoes. Surprisingly, the unlikely combination of historic era styling and pop culture trends works so well that one of our favorites from the runway was a Stranger Things tee worn effortlessly over a pink blouse with poet sleeves. What a perfect conclusion for Paris Fashion Week!
